Build Fort Wayne Powered by SEED, launched in 2019.

This business and project planning class is designed for aspiring and established entrepreneurs. Classes are led by trained facilitators and cover the basics of starting a business – from establishing an entity to financial literacy, market research to cash flow, loan types to cost-benefit analyses, and more.

Participants will leave the class with a completed business plan, a cohort of fellow entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial StrengthFinders evaluation, connections to local service organizations, and the knowledge and confidence to take their idea to the next level.

------------

This nine-week training program is offered for a $175 investment fee. (This means that, upon successful graduation from the program, participants will have the $175 returned to them to invest in their business!)

Plus, we don't want childcare to hinder an entrepreneur's ability to achieve their dream. So, we provide childcare (or cover the cost of high-quality childcare) during training meetings.

------------

Interested participants can fill out a Registration Application for the Cohort that best suits your schedule.

Build Institute Business Planning Education Participant Agreement. Build Institute Business Planning Education, powered by Summit City Entrepreneur and Enterprise District (SEED), provides a foundation for entrepreneurs, to help them prepare to launch and scale their small businesses. Build Institute provides resources, education, and community building to entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs in northeast Indiana. Participant agrees to take responsibility for the effectiveness of their learning experience. Build Institute Fort Wayne facilitators are guides for the materials, connections, and other resources surrounding entrepreneurship. They are not instructors or content-knowledge experts on all topics and materials presented. To get the most out of the experience, participants are expected to attend every scheduled class of their cohort. One facilitator-approved absence is acceptable but additional absences may result in removal from the course and/or graduation denial. Cohorts typically run for three hours one day per week for nine weeks. This is a total of 27 in-class hours. Participant will read and respond to emails from SEED staff and Build facilitators within 48 hours. If participants do not have access to technology or the internet, they will need to inform SEED staff and Build facilitators prior to the launch of the cohort to work on solutions. Participant will complete a business plan from the outline provided and two survey assessments of the course prior to graduation. To measure and ensure program effectiveness, Participants agree to allow Build Institute Fort Wayne/SEED to follow up with them after graduation on their business status.
Build Institute Business Planning Education, Commitment: Participant will receive a Build Institute SEED binder complete with class materials. Successful completion of the Build Institute program includes an entrepreneurial strengths assessment, individualized connections to additional support services, and a Build Institute graduate certificate. Participant is entitled to a one-hour coaching session with their strengths’ coach and one hour with an entrepreneur coach. SEED will regularly provide food and drinks during the cohort. Dietary restrictions received upon registration will be honored to the best of our abilities. High-quality, licensed childcare will be provided if all registration materials and required childcare center documentation are received at least two weeks prior to the cohort launch. Childcare services are dependent upon SEED’s securing a qualified provider for the dates and times aligned with the nine-week cohort. Upon the completion of all requirements for graduation, Participant will receive their investment fee of $175 returned to them or their business entity to invest in their business future at their individualized coaching session. For Participant whose fees are subsidized by another entity, this fee may be returned to them, depending upon their prior arrangement.
All Parties Involved Commitment: Build Institute Participant success is built largely on community building, inclusivity, and creating connections. As such, interactions with facilitators, all participants, guest speakers, and Build Institute/SEED staff will take place with respect, understanding, and appreciation. These interactions ensure everyone involved has the maximum opportunity to build a strong community, to ensure all peoples are afforded the opportunity to be involved and that lasting connections are made for future success.
